I was SO excited when I was asked to be my best friend Madison’s maid of honor (or MOH as we like to call it) and a big part of it was because I was in charge of planning her bachelorette. Madi knew from the start she wanted to do Vegas with her bridesmaids over Labor Day Weekend, so that’s exactly what we did! And we had a freaking blast (if you can’t tell from the photos 😉 ).
I wanted to do a blog post to show you guys how I did all of the planning, what I learned, and what the highlight of the weekend was.
First things first, the absolutely key to planning a bachelorette is PLANNING AHEAD. I made sure we had hotels and flights covered two months before. I mean, it’s not like we were going to Arizona on a random weekend. We were going to Vegas… over LABOR DAY WEEKEND. This shit needed to be well thought out.
Let’s talk about what went into the prep. In the weeks before, I was busy putting together the Bride Tribe gift bags for all of the bridesmaids, as well as an extra special one for the bride. Here’s what I included:
- matching Gorjana star and moon necklaces
- Bee Happy hats from Soul Honey
- cute pink hairspray bottles from Design Me
- pearl and rainbow rhinestone hair clips from The Sis Kiss
- bathing suits from Cupshe
- a beauty product from Maelys
They all loved the bags, and it was a great way to welcome everyone to the weekend. I also made sure we had fun bachelorette room deco, too! I brought “she said yassss” banners, glittery hanging backdrops, “same penis forever” cups, etc. that I got on Amazon, along with a customized “Future Mrs. Shaw” sash, bride bucket hat, and some fun bride-to-be sunglasses for the bride. When Madi and I arrived to the hotel, I sent her downstairs to get a drink with one of her sisters while we decorated the room! We wanted it to be a surprise for her when she walked in. She started tearing up so I think that was a good sign 🙂 We also stocked the room up with plenty of drinks, snacks, and (most importantly) Flow water.
Another thing I did to get the girls excited is put together a cute itinerary that I got from Blythe Eakin Designs) for the weekend, which included all of our dinners, activities, and night plans. I sent this out in the group text on the day of with the message “WELCOME TO VEGAS”. Here’s what it looked like:
We chose the Cosmopolitan Hotel (I.M.O. perfect for a bachelorette— it’s glam, chic, and has a gigantic crystal chandelier in the middle of the hotel). I reached out to two of my friends who work in the nightlife industry in Vegas, and they helped us plan out our nights according to what we wanted to do. I looked up all of the different clubs and found out who was playing where and what night, and made an itinerary. Everything wouldn’t have been so easy without the help of these two— shout out to Dane and Sergio :).
Dinner reservations were a must. Since we were staying three nights, I wanted to make sure we had dinner rezzis for at least two of them. We chose Beauty & Essex the first night, and Catch the next night. Who knows what state we would be in on the third day in Vegas, so I wasn’t about to make any plans for that night. And thank God I didn’t because that third day was a damn blur lol.
Cute tip: semi-coordinate your outfits so when your group is strutting down the lobby floor, you all turn heads! One night we did bright / neon dresses, and another night we all did nude / champagne dresses. Both nights Madi wore white so she stood out!
THINGS I LEARNED:
-Expect a flight delay. Am I the only one who feels like Vegas flights ALWAYS get delayed? Her sisters that drove got there before us…classic. This messed up my plans to set up the welcome bags and take photos before everyone got there, but we made it work!
-Don’t lose your phone. I was the ding dong who was too busy chatting it up with the Uber driver to realize I left my phone in the car. This was EXTRA annoying because I couldn’t take pics / talk to Sergio & Dane who were helping us, but we figured it out. With the help of Find My Iphone I picked it up on the way to the airport Monday morning. Stoked on that!
-Make it a point to have down time and play the bachelorette games. One of the games I brought was a bachelorette dare card game (this one to be exact) that we brought along with us to the pool parties both days. They all had crazy dares and it was good ‘ole innocent fun. We didn’t get to one of the games I had planned (the one I was most excited for) because we were so rushed the whole weekend and I totally regret it! I wish we had more down time in the room with all of the girls, but hey, we were living in the moment 🙂
The highlight of the weekend was the Magic Mike show. OH MY GOSH we were screaming like I’ve never heard before. It was almost as if we had never seen a cute guy before in our lives lol. It was the perfect bachelorette activity. We all had so much fun dancing and singing along, and the guys were all so talented and had our full attention the entire time! Like, how could you not??
Overall we had such an epic weekend and it will definitely go down in the memory books! If you guys have any questions about our trip or planning a bachelorette, leave a comment below and I’d be happy to answer. xx
