As we all know, the basic formula to a healthy body is eating clean and staying active. Today I’m covering my fitness routine in a nutshell. The reason I say nutshell is because I don’t have a definitive routine. I’m by no means a stickler when it comes to following a specific routine, must workout 5X a week, etc.
A BIG part of my fitness routine is listening to my body. I feel like everyday is different in terms of what I’m feeling like, what my body is craving, which workout class I want to take, etc. so I try to listen and follow accordingly.
I’ve been a member of Equinox, had memberships at specific studios, and bought class packages at different places, but I’ve finally found the system that works best for me. Since I like switching up my workouts from day to day, I’m a member of Classpass. For those who don’t know what Classpass is, it’s basically a fitness app where you can sign up for different levels of memberships (depending on how many classes you take each month) and attend classes at a TON of different studios. They have basically every type of workout AND I can use it when I’m traveling in the states. I love this because sometimes I spend the night up in LA for work, and I can go to any studio while I’m up there.
To break it down: I switch off between reformer pilates, strength training boot camp, barre, and spin class and I usually workout 3-4 X a week.
Why I do each:
- reformer pilates: these are some of the hardest workout classes I’ve ever taken. It’s all about slow, steady movements that strengthen your core (hello abs!) and it really transforms your body. Think smaller waist and booty like a peach with toned arms. I can honestly go on and on. This is my favorite type of workout and the one I do most.
- boot camp: there’s a boot camp spot literally right down the street from my house that I go to with my mom and sometimes Sara when she’s down from LA. I love the high intensity and there’s always new workouts, which keeps it interesting! Good for toning and strength training.
- barre: Oh I loooove my barre class (not only because it’s right next to Whole Foods hehe) but because they incorporate dance cardio, barre work, and mat workouts. Great for the booty and a really fun class. I go to barre when I want a lighter, easier workout that still brings a challenge.
- spin: I’m a Grit Cycle fan to the max. They have blue neon lighting that makes everyone glow, and the music is always loud and pumping. I go to spin when I’m feeling sluggish, low-energy, and heavy because I always walk out drenched in sweat and energized AF.
Other workouts I’d like to do more of is choreographed dance (my passion!), F45 Training, and kickboxing. I’m always looking to add something fun to my regular mix of classes so let me know if you have a class your OBSESSED with in the comments below!
