One of the many things I love about Rudy is that he is HANDY. He can pretty much build or fix anything around the house and it is fan. freakin’. tastic.
When we moved into our place the original idea was to have his surfboard rack in my office. Well yeah, that was before I found out he had 8 boards and it would take up the whole room LOL. That idea was quickly scratched and we realized they would have to go in the garage, which IMO is a way better place for it anyways!
We made the trip to Home Depot, got a wooden plank, a few wooden cylinders, and some wood glue and we were ready to build. Rudy measured everything out and sawed the pieces apart while I glued the pegs into the plank. Then he screwed the pegs in and attached the plank to the wall. Nothin’ like some good ole fashioned team work!
The project took about two afternoons and now we have a beautiful, organized surfboard rack on the side of our garage, right next to my shoe wall. Now there’s tons of space and we can move around freely, not to mention it was a much cheaper option than buying a pre-built rack. If we think we can build it ourselves, we’ll do it (well mostly Rudy but you get the point 😉 ).
Hmmm… what should we build next? I need a desk. The reason I’m considering building it ourselves is because the space I’m working with is smaller than the typical office desk you’ll find online. And I’m being pretty picky with the color of wood. I want pale, unique looking wood that you would find in a beach cottage. I definitely won’t be able to find it at Home Depot so I’m currently seeking out other sources. Finding the right pieces might be a project of it’s own but I’m determined. On to the next home project!
